KPYC Education Seminars for 2008
Monday July 10th & 24th at 5 pm: Hands on Boating for the new/non boater
A 3 hr on the water course will be presented twice, to cover basics of boating safety, including piloting with chart and GPS, radio calls, man overboard, mooring, docking, and rules of the road. This course is geared for the spouse/family & new boater that may not have the knowledge to feel comfortable navigating in Portsmouth Harbor area.
If you have a boat, please bring it along, we will use "Lioness" as the primary vessel for training, she can host 10 people comfortably. All attendees should download or purchase a copy of the Portsmouth Harbor charts #13278 and 13285 (http://www.noaa.gov/charts.html) and bring a pencil and notebook. If you have handheld GPS and handbearing compass/binoculars with compass please bring those as well. This course is not a substitute for the NH required Safe boating course, but it is intended to help new boaters become more comfortable in their role as crew or first mates.

April 18th at 7 pm: Racing Rules Review
An overview of the racing rules suitable for beginners and experienced skippers and crew.
June 6th at 7 pm: Cruising and Overnight Sailing Review
Come down and refresh your coastal and overnight sailing knowledge. This is a good introduction to overnight sailing such as will be found on the Cape Ann Race June 9th.
